Note: If you have recently migrated to the new att.net home page powered by Yahoo!, click "Change" in the top right corner of this page and select Yahoo! as your home page to view the correct instructions.
To verify the account settings in Windows Mail on a Windows Vista computer, do the following:
- Click the Start buttom.
- Click on All Programs.
- Click on Windows Mail.
- Click on the Tools menu.
- Click on Accounts.
- Click on the account that needs to be verified.
- Click on the Properties button.
- Click on the General tab, and verify that:
- All of the User Information fields are filled in correctly.
- Check the box next to Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing.
- Click on the Servers tab, and verify that:
- My incoming mail server is a POP3 .
- Incoming mail (POP3) is set to fpostoffice.isp.att.net.
Note: If you wish to access mail from a source other than ATT.net, ensure that the POP3 server is configured to the proper mail server. It may be necessary to contact the administrator of that server to obtain those settings.
- Outgoing mail (SMTP) is set to fmailhost.isp.att.net.
- Type the full email address in the username field, including domain. For example, johnsmith@att.net.
- The correct Password for that address is entered.
- The Remember password box is checked.
- The My server requires authentication box is checked.
- Click on the Settings button.
- To verify your server settings.
- Select the appropriate Outgoing Mail Server settings.
- Make sure Logon Information Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.

- Click on the OK button.
- Click Advanced.
- In the Advanced tab, verify that:
- The Outgoing mail (SMTP) port is 465.
- Check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
- The Incoming mail (POP3) port is 995.
- Check the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
- The Leave a copy of messages on server is:
- Unchecked – If you do not normally use Webmail, and do not need to access all of your messages from multiple locations. This is the most common setting.
- Checked – If you also use Webmail and need to access all of your messages from multiple locations.
- Click OK.
- Click Close.

- Uncheck the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
- The Incoming mail (POP3) port is 110.
- Uncheck the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
- The Leave a copy of messages on server is:
- Unchecked – If you do not normally use Webmail, and do not need to access all of your messages from multiple locations. This is the most common setting.
- Checked – If you also use Webmail and need to access all of your messages from multiple locations.
- Click OK.
- Click Close.
